I just planted a canadian gold pear tree on south side in protected area does any one know of this tree ? do i need another varietyfor pollination or is this a self pollinator? Cant find any info on this treeand would really appreciate any thing anyone can tell me .Thanks so much Sharon

I couldn't find your pear listed in any varieties of self-pollinators. Here is what I did find: That even when a pear tree is considered the self-pollinating kind, it usually will only bear a 'token' crop and will still do much better if it is pollinated with a second tree. I hope this helped!

I have a 15 yr old Ure pear tree all alone. It bears tooo much fruit, that I have to Earthcycle it away. The pears are small about 2-1/2 " x 3-1/2 but tasty right off the tree ripe in September.

Take a look at making pear cider (scrumpy) out of your surplus pears.
